Instructors
Deborah Berioli (Voice)
Most recently Berioli made her debut in the title role in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly
with Opera San José in San José, California. Her performances were hailed by
critics as a touching, dramatic success. She will perform the role again with the
Stockton Opera Association in Stockton, California in January 2008. Berioli was a
resident artist with Opera San José from 2004 to 2006 and performed eight leading
roles, including The Countess in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, the title role in Puccini’s
Tosca, Amelia in Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera, Mimi in Puccini’s La Bohème and
Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. On the concert stage, Berioli has performed in
Carnegie Hall, Orchestra Hall with the Minnesota Orchestra, with
Symphony Silicon Valley, Santa Cruz Symphony, Redwood Symphony,
Venice Symphony, Charlotte Symphony and the acclaimed Mid-Summer
Mozart Festival.
Berioli was the first place winner of the Metropolitan Opera National
Council competition in the Upper Midwest District and the second place winner of
the Upper Midwest Region in 1999. Other operatic credits include performances with
Minnesota Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Sarasota Opera and the
Metropolitan Opera Guild. She is also the Founder and Artistic Director of the
Venice Performing Arts Series, located in Venice, Florida.
Michelle Brazukas (Director, piano, Kindermusik)
Michelle began her piano studies at the age of six. She participated in the
Southeastern Music Festival for three seasons, before graduating from the
Booker High School Visual and Performing Arts program. As a teen, she began
studying music theory and composition with Wilson Cosby and Dr. Donald Morrison.
In 1990, her compositions were recognized and rewarded by the National League
of American Pen Women scholarship committee and the Music Teachers
National Association. She continued her piano studies with Steven Hall, Anne
Diaz, and David Watkins. In 2000, after presenting a lecture recital on the life
and works of Clara Schumann, she graduated with a B.A. in music from
Kennesaw State University, with an emphasis in piano performance. She became a
certified Kindermusik educator in 2004 and has just begun to fulfill her lifelong
dream by opening North Port Music & Arts. Michelle has served as the Director of
Music at St. Raphael Church in Englewood and Sacred Heart Church in
Bradenton, and lives in North Port with her husband and two children.
Emily Dwyer (Violin)
Emily is an active and vibrant musician, whose talents enhance many local orchestras
and ensembles. She began performing with the Florida West Coast Youth
Symphony in 2003 and now plays with the Florida West Coast Youth
Philharmonic Orchestra. She is also a member of the Venice Symphony, the
North Port Orchestra, the Englewood United Methodist Church Orchestra,
and is the head of the Pine View Quartet. Emily has been featured as a soloist with
the North Port Orchestra.
Emily is also an award winning poet.
Alan R. Klispie (brass, woodwinds)
Alan R. Klispie has taught instrumental music in Charlotte County for over 25 years.
He holds a BME from the University of Tampa and has done further studies at the
University of South Florida, the University of Miami, and Florida State University.
Alan spent 12 summers at Interlochen Arts Camp. He has played trumpet with
the Charlotte Symphony for over 20 seasons and also performs in the Suncoast
Brass. Alan is a member of the International Trumpet Guild, the Florida
Bandmasters as life member, the Music Educators National Conference, and
the Florida Music Educators Association.
